PRIDE AND LGBT+ HISTORY
Your guide to Pride
Welcome to your guide to Pride, celebrating the diversity, resilience, and rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. In the UK, events like Brighton, Manchester, London, and UK Black Prides unite us in marches, events, and parades honouring the struggles and triumphs of the LGBTQ+ movement.
Globally, Pride is observed in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York, a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. While progress has been made in many countries, challenges persist, especially where LGBTQ+ people face legal discrimination or violence. Pride remains a joyful celebration, but especially in today's troubled times, it remains a powerful call for equality and human rights worldwide.
